What’s my first joke to be when I hit the stage?

Are you taping every set on audio or video? Tape every set and listen to it...keep the stuff you consistently get laughs on and discard the stuff that doesn't get consistent laughs.

Perform wherever you can, comedy clubs are fine but coffee shops are great for working out new material. The best open comes from listening to those taped sets.

Before we had these fancy tape abilities people had to rely on feedback from others and what they could remember, you have an excellent advantage with recording abilities these days.

You can't imagine all the jokes and routines I have discarded simply because they didn't get consistent laughs. They were chucklers, but that's not what we want, we want those guaranteed laughs as our opening jokes...sometimes that comes from something that happened right there in the room just before you hit the stage...use all of that.
